Anti-Credulous was written to defy the complacency around and expectations of what a marimba solo could sound like. The piece strives to replace warm tone with dry sound, lush chords with biting incisive attacks, pleasant chorales with jagged lines. The marimba’s full sonic potential is explored through a variety of extended techniques, challenging our conceptions of what a marimba solo might sound like—breaking our credulity.
